Following is a list of training videos that referees can use to enhance their coaching and development:

  • Warm up – This video shows a warm up set which should be used prior to participating in a fitness/conditioning activity, or prior to a game.
  • Goal line Positioning 3 Ball – Tackles will be made within 3m or 5m of the goal line. The Referee must position themselves in the in-goal or on the goal line according to where the tackle was made.
  • Zig-Zag Conditioning – Tackles will be made within 3m or 5m of the goal line. The Referee must position themselves in the in-goal or on the goal line according to where the tackle was made.
  • Goal Line Positioning – Tackles will be made close to the goal line, where the Referee is required to be positioned in the in-goal area, and then must move out of the in-goal after the play-the-ball for the next play.
  • Staged Taps – Participants will practice their application of allowing or disallowing quick penalty kicks
  • Written Signs – Participants will run through a variety of signs indicating an event where they must blow the whistle and give the correct signal
  • Static Comms – Participants will practice their vocab sequence by running through some static rucks, with a variety of different tackle types
  • Shift Play – The participant will practice moving up off the 10m line, positioning themselves in a way in which they are best able to rule on passes and upcoming contact
  • Shapes – The participant will start from a kick-off position before moving downfield and refereeing a set of 6 tackles, using specific tackle ID. Rucks are identified by a variety of markers set out on the field, representing different tackle types.
  • Ruck ID – Participants will focus on using correct/specific communication to the ruck based on what they have identified in the tackle.
